Rules

Rules are standing instructions for the AI, so you don't have to repeat the same preference in every conversation. A rule like "always answer in bullet points" or "never suggest a paid tool when a free one exists" applies automatically going forward.

Global and per-session rules

Rules can apply globally, across every conversation, or be scoped to a single session if it's a one-off preference that doesn't need to stick around.

AI-suggested rules

Trace can also propose a rule on its own, based on a pattern it's noticed in how you use it. You can accept a suggestion to turn it into a real rule, or dismiss it if it doesn't fit.
