Quick tour

Trace looks like a normal browser at first glance. The difference is everywhere you look once you start using it.

The browser chrome

• Address bar: works like any browser's for plain URLs and Google searches. AI and memory search live in the chat sidebar instead, not the address bar.
• Tabs: a standard tab bar across the top. Press Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+A to open a searchable tab switcher when you have a lot open.
• Cookie banners and geo popups: dismissed automatically wherever Trace's automation touches a page.

The AI sidebar

Press Ctrl/Cmd+K to open the chat sidebar (also called the FloatingBar) from anywhere in the app. It's a chat copilot that can:

• Answer questions about the page you're currently on.
• Search your indexed browsing history in plain language.
• Run any of the on-demand skills with one click.
• Hand off multi-step tasks to the navigation agent.

Press Escape to close whichever overlay currently has focus, whether that's the sidebar, search, or history.

The nav sidebar

A collapsible sidebar (usually docked to the side of the window) holds buttons for Trace's other panels:

• History: your full browsing history, grouped by day.
• Agents: on-demand skills and background agents.
• Calendar: the Smart Calendar, with month and schedule views.
• Mail: connected email accounts.
• Docs: document management.
• Profile: your personal memory, including the fact graph view.
• Settings: everything covered in Settings & Configuration.
