Do I need an account to use Trace? Yes, a free account is required even on the Free tier, but no credit card is needed and setup takes about 30 seconds.

Do I need to pay to use AI features? No. Ollama is free and fully local. The Self hosted default also works out of the box on Free, with limited usage. See Choosing your AI.

Does Trace work without an internet connection? Browsing itself needs a connection like any browser. AI features work offline only if you're running Ollama locally; cloud providers need a connection to reach them.

Can I use Trace on more than one device? Local storage is per-device by default. Multi-device sync is a Pro feature; see Plans & billing.

What happens to my data if I switch AI providers? Nothing about your existing memory or history changes. The provider switch only affects where future AI requests are sent.

Is my browsing history sent anywhere? No, unless you explicitly enable a feature that requires it (like connecting a cloud AI provider for a specific request), or opt in to a feature that says so directly. See Privacy & data.

Can I delete a fact Trace has learned about me? Yes, directly from the Profile panel. See Personal memory.
