Artifacts

An artifact is a piece of content that lives in its own editor instead of being buried in a chat message, a document, a spreadsheet, a slide deck, a diagram. The AI can generate one directly in conversation, or you can start one yourself from a gallery of templates.

Types

Resume / Cover letter. Built with Letterhead, Trace's dedicated resume studio

Starting one

Open the Artifacts panel and pick a type from the gallery. Each type offers a blank starting point plus a set of curated templates, for example a budget or comparison table for Sheets, a flowchart or org chart for Diagrams, and a full set of ready-made presentation decks and landing-page styles. Or just ask for one in chat, "make me a comparison table of these three options," and Trace creates the artifact directly.

Editing

Every type gets an editor suited to it:

• Sheet has a real formula engine (SUM, AVERAGE, IF, SUMIF, and more), per-column filtering, undo/redo, and multiple sheets within one workbook you can add, rename, and reorder.
• Document uses a rich-text editor with an optional visual theme.
• Presentation lets you drag and resize content blocks on each slide, choose from a set of themes and layouts (bullets, stats, quote, timeline, image and text, and more), and present fullscreen when you're ready.
• Code gets full syntax highlighting.
• Quiz, Survey, and Landing page are structured editors with a live preview of exactly what a viewer would see.
• Diagram, React, and SVG render in a live preview as you edit.

Saved and published artifacts

Artifacts you create are saved automatically. The Artifacts panel separates what the AI generated, what you've explicitly saved, and what you've published, and can show either a list or a grid view.

Publishing turns a Quiz, Survey, Landing page, Presentation, Sheet, or Website artifact into a shareable link anyone can open, no account required on their end. Quizzes and surveys also get a results view so you can see what people submitted.

Exporting to PDF

Any artifact can be exported to a real PDF from the header button, rendered the same way a browser would print it, not a screenshot.

Sharing with a team

If you're a member of an organization, any artifact can be shared into a Space so your teammates can see and search it alongside shared pages, documents, and highlights.
